Our first Nationals together became a week we’ll never forget. We had 19 SoFlo Performance skaters competing across 14 divisions, bringing home 44 medals. Three athletes made Team USA, and we broke three national records. While those results were something to celebrate, the biggest win was seeing us come together as one team, supporting each other and competing with confidence, energy and pride.

A Week of Racing, Competition and Teamwork
Team USA Trials & Outdoor Nationals is one of the biggest competitions of the year, lasting just over a week and giving athletes the opportunity to compete on both the track and road.
There are a lot of opportunities to earn medals throughout the championships, but those medals are not simply handed out. Every race is competitive, and every position matters. For athletes competing in the regular divisions, they are racing for national medals, titles and the recognition that comes with finishing at the top of their division. For those competing in the Junior or Senior World Class divisions, there is also the added goal of earning enough points to qualify for Team USA.
The Team USA selection process is complex, but at a high level, athletes earn points based on their finishes in each race, with points awarded for top-eight placements. Once the championships are over, those results are used to determine the athletes selected to Team USA. This year, those athletes will go on to represent the United States at the World Skate Games in Paraguay in October.
Our First Nationals Together
For SoFlo Performance, this was our first Nationals together as a team, and we were incredibly proud of the way our athletes showed up.
We had 19 skaters competing across 14 different divisions, with athletes represented from the youngest to the oldest age groups, beginning with Primary and continuing through Master D.
By the end of the championships, our team had earned 44 medals, broken three national records and had three athletes selected to Team USA.
Those results were something to celebrate, but what made this Nationals special was watching our team grow closer throughout the week. We supported one another, celebrated each other's successes and continued to encourage each other when things didn't go our way.
We were also proud to hear from coaches from some of the more established teams around the country who took notice of our athletes and the way we competed. For our first Nationals together, that meant a lot to us.
Every Athlete Has a Story
One of the things we value most as coaches is recognizing that every athlete has a different journey. This year's Team USA trials brought together comeback stories, first-time competitors and younger athletes just beginning to find their place in the sport.
Some of our athletes returned to skating after competing at a high level when they were younger and have rekindled their love for the sport. Others were competing at Nationals for the first time, overcoming their fears and gaining experience on the national stage. And for some, this was the beginning of a competitive journey with the goal of one day earning a place on Team USA.
Every one of those journeys matters to us.
As coaches, we know that success isn't always measured by a medal. We see the work that goes into every race, the courage it takes to compete and the progress each athlete makes along the way. No matter the result, we walked away from these championships proud of every athlete and the journey they are on.
More Than the Results
After the championships were over, our team came together to celebrate our athletes and everything they accomplished throughout the week.
It was a chance to look back not just at what we accomplished, but at all the moments in between. The early mornings, the long days at the track, the nerves before races, the celebrations after good races and, most importantly, the way everyone continued to support each other.
The celebration was also special because it gave some of our younger skaters who did not compete at Nationals an opportunity to see what this level of competition looks like. They got to be around their teammates, hear the stories from the week and see what they can work toward in the years ahead. For us, that is an important part of building a team. We want our younger athletes to see that there is a path forward and that they have a place in this team as they continue to grow.
More than anything, this Nationals showed us how much we have grown in a short amount of time. We are proud of what this team accomplished, but we are even more excited about what comes next. There is still so much room for our athletes to grow, and we believe this is just the beginning.

A week like this doesn't happen because of the athletes and coaches alone. A huge thank you goes to all of our parents and supporters who kept everyone fed, hydrated and taken care of throughout the championships. From the early mornings to the late nights, your support made a difference.
And to our athletes, thank you for trusting us, putting yourselves out there and giving everything you had. Getting to experience our first Nationals together was something we'll always remember.
There is a lot to look forward to from here. For some of our athletes, the next step is representing Team USA in Paraguay. For others, it's getting back to work, setting new goals and coming back even stronger next year. And for the younger skaters who watched it all unfold, their journey is just getting started.
We're excited to see where this team goes next.
