Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about skating with SoFlo Performance.
You will need inline speed skates and a helmet. For beginners, we highly recommend protective gear like knee pads, wrist guards, and elbow pads. If you are already experienced in competitive inline speed skating, a helmet and skinsuit are all you need. We can also help you find or upgrade the right equipment when you join!
Absolutely. We prioritize safety in every session. All skaters are required to wear a helmet and appropriate protective gear. Our coaches are experienced in working with youth athletes.
We welcome skaters of all ages. Youth skaters as young as 5 years old can participate, and we have adult skaters as well. We group skaters by skill level, not just age.
Show up a few minutes early so we can meet you and take a look at the equipment you have. Our coaches will assess your current skill level and help you get comfortable on the track. Expect a welcoming, encouraging environment!
We train at Brian Piccolo Park in Cooper City, FL. Both our track (velodrome) and road course sessions take place inside the park. Because our location shifts depending on the day, please check our practice schedule for specific session locations and times.
No prior experience in speed skating is required! We have excellent beginner-friendly programming, and our coaches will guide you from day one. For your safety and the best experience, we recommend that participants have a basic level of comfort standing and rolling forward on inline skates before joining their first group session.
Yes — our coaches are fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Families are welcome to communicate with us in either language, and coaching during practice is available in both.
